Eastern Scottish operates in the east of Scotland, with a fleet of over 500 buses serving over 100 million passengers each year. The company was founded in 1932, following the amalgamation of a number of smaller bus companies in the region. Eastern Scottish quickly became a major player and in the 1950s and 1960s, it was one of the first companies to introduce double-decker buses and express services.

In the 1970s it was nationalised and became part of the Scottish Bus Group. However, the company was privatised in the 1980s, and it has since been owned by a number of different companies. In recent years, Eastern Scottish has been owned by FirstGroup, one of the largest bus operators in the UK.
